Immunization Requirements

All new students entering Virginia Tech are required to provide an immunization history that is signed by a licensed health professional. Please visit the Schiffert Health Center Immunization Requirements webpage and download the required Immunization History form to be filled out. Do not mail the health history form, bring it with you.

Your will receive an appointment for review of your immunization history form when you arrive at the Cranwell International Center.

Be sure to bring copies of immunization and medical records of any accompanying family members. Children are not allowed to enroll in school or take part in childcare programs without required immunizations.

T.B. Testing

All students coming to Virginia Tech are required to show proof of a Mantoux tuberculin skin test (PPD) or preferably a QuantiFERON Tb Gold Test (QFT-G) upon arrival if they answered yes to any of the questions on the Tuberculosis Risk Assessment Form. Students that present with proof of a positive PPD with a chest x-ray taken within the last six months will be required to have the QuantiFERON TB Gold test at the Schiffert Health Center Lab at the cost of $67.00. Students may show proof of a positive PPD and completion of Isoniazid (INH) preventative therapy. Proof of a positive or negative PPD must include a millimeter reading unless proof of completed INH therapy can be provided. Those who are vaccinated with BCG and are from a high risk country will still need tuberculosis testing. QFT-G is the required test for BCG vaccinated and/or positive PPD persons. Proof of a positive PPD and the copy of the chest x-ray must be translated into English and be certified (signed) by your physician.
