Don’t miss this opportunity!

Help us make Virginia Tech better for international students!

Find the survey in your VT email inbox and complete by Friday, December 14.

Virginia Tech, and the Division of Student Affairs, are committed to improving your experience and that of all of our international students. As such, we have invited an independent research agency to gather feedback on your experiences through a survey instrument called the International Student Barometer. This is your opportunity to tell us what is working, what is not working well, and what you think of your university experience so far. All responses are confidential and anonymous, and will be used for research purposes only. See below for the answers to some frequently asked questions.

The International Student Barometer is for all undergraduate and graduate international students.

Your will receive an e-mail from VirginiaTech@euro.confirmit.com through your Virginia Tech account.  This e-mail will contain a link that is specific to each user.

The survey should take between 15 and 20 minutes to complete.

Data analysis will begin on the official close date of the survey, and will take approximately 6-8 weeks. After that, the results will be presented to university leadership and stakeholders, including international student leaders and organizations (e.g., the International Student Advisory Board, the Council of International Student Organizations, etc.). The research company will present the results in the form of a personalized PDF document and PPT slides that will be part of a formal 2-hour presentation to a select group of university leaders. In addition, the results will be available to the university in native format using Interact (powered by Tableau), which is the next generation of data visualization.

The company that administers the ISB stores data on secure servers in the United Kingdom.  For more information about their security policy, please visit:  https://www.i-graduate.org/privacy-policy.

As a thank you, the research agency is offering the opportunity to win a $1,200 cash prize or suggest a $1,200 donation to charity.

In addition, Virginia Tech is offering the opportunity for 20 students to win $20 in Dining dollars, 10 students to win $50 in Dining dollars, and 1 student to win $100 in Dining dollars. In addition, everyone who completes the survey, on or before 11:59 pm on Sunday, November 25, will be entered into a drawing to win one of two prizes for you and a group of up to 10 friends to have an experience at Puzzlr: Puzzle and Escape Rooms in Blacksburg!

Students who submit the survey before November 25, 2018 will automatically be entered into a drawing for the prizes.

If you have additional questions about the survey and how it will be used, please e-mail international@vt.edu.
